I love the Bone series。Not a lot, plot wise, nothing's really happened outside setting up the mystery but I like it。 Its funny and cute。 So excited to read the next book。 I love the Bone series。Not a lot, plot wise, nothing's really happened outside setting up the mystery but I like it。 Its funny and cute。 So excited to read the next book。 。。。more

I love how the tension escalates in this book, as well as how our characters grow and develop a bit。 There's one moment where, somehow, Smith manages to execute a jump scare through art, which is awesome。 Overall, I just really love this series, and I can't wait to dive into the rest of it! This is talking about how phoney and smiley bone think about getting rich and coming up with this Mystery Cow to win the race。

This story, written by Jeff Smith, is the second book in the Fantasy graphic novel series, Bone。 Fone Bone and his cousins from Boneville are living in a different town after Phoney Bone got them kicked out of Boneville。 Phoney is at his usual semantics by trying to fix the cow race so everyone is betting on a mystery cow, who is in fact, Smiley Bone in an outfit。 In this comedic story, Fone Bone, Gran’ma Ben, and Thorn start to have revelations about dragons as rat creatures are hunting down Ph This story, written by Jeff Smith, is the second book in the Fantasy graphic novel series, Bone。 Fone Bone and his cousins from Boneville are living in a different town after Phoney Bone got them kicked out of Boneville。 Phoney is at his usual semantics by trying to fix the cow race so everyone is betting on a mystery cow, who is in fact, Smiley Bone in an outfit。 In this comedic story, Fone Bone, Gran’ma Ben, and Thorn start to have revelations about dragons as rat creatures are hunting down Phoney Bone for Kingdok。This story contains a lot of comedy and fantastical elements such as a secondary world, with creatures that could never really exist in our real world。 The drawings in this graphic novel are appealing to readers and help add to the comedic effect Smith was going for。 This book brings the reader into the secondary world as if they were sharing this experience with the characters。 The concepts in this story are a little more complicated and, because of that, I would recommend this story to 5th grade – 8th grade children。 However, this book was a great read that I thoroughly enjoyed, so I would highly recommend it to kids of that age。 I am more than interested in reading the rest of the series! 。。。more

Slightly less funny than the last volume, which fell more in the slapstick comedy genre, while this one expands itself into different directions。 The weird thing about Bone so far is the tone: it's so rich and ambitious。 But you wouldn't notice it because it's being creative with genres that don't mix at all and that you wouldn't even think need mixing at all。 Other than that, I still like the humor and the dynamic of characters, and there's enough mystery for me to want more。A winner, I'll say。 Slightly less funny than the last volume, which fell more in the slapstick comedy genre, while this one expands itself into different directions。 The weird thing about Bone so far is the tone: it's so rich and ambitious。 But you wouldn't notice it because it's being creative with genres that don't mix at all and that you wouldn't even think need mixing at all。 Other than that, I still like the humor and the dynamic of characters, and there's enough mystery for me to want more。A winner, I'll say。Edit: it does have the funniest joke so far though, the evolution of the quiche craps me up every time it's brought up。 。。。more

I said this on my review for volume one, but there's really nothing not to like。 The characters are so dynamic and funny and the situations are so endearingly bizarre。 I'm pretty sure it was Neil Gaiman who said of Jeff Smith that he paces his jokes better than anyone else in the comics world。 I 100% agree。 And starting with this volume, Smith has started to work in some of the more lore and plot heavy stuff smoothly and without distracting from the playful atmosphere。 I said this on my review for volume one, but there's really nothing not to like。 The characters are so dynamic and funny and the situations are so endearingly bizarre。 I'm pretty sure it was Neil Gaiman who said of Jeff Smith that he paces his jokes better than anyone else in the comics world。 I 100% agree。 And starting with this volume, Smith has started to work in some of the more lore and plot heavy stuff smoothly and without distracting from the playful atmosphere。 。。。more

Classic。

I love how Smith lures the reader in with almost slapstick comedy while laying some more ominous undertones of things to come in the future。 Phone Bone and Smiley Bone are hilarious with their scheme to bilk the townspeople out of their livestock。 The village has no use for money and trades in eggs mostly instead。 I just love Jeff Smith's artwork。 His animation influenced style really works for me。 He's a master of using only slightly changed panels for comedic effect。 I love how Smith lures the reader in with almost slapstick comedy while laying some more ominous undertones of things to come in the future。 Phone Bone and Smiley Bone are hilarious with their scheme to bilk the townspeople out of their livestock。 The village has no use for money and trades in eggs mostly instead。 I just love Jeff Smith's artwork。 His animation influenced style really works for me。 He's a master of using only slightly changed panels for comedic effect。 。。。more

These books are a great adventure for kids。 With spooky dark parts and lighthearted belly laugh moments, I think it's a good glread for everyone all around。 Plus the two characterized rat-monsters are very charming。 These books are a great adventure for kids。 With spooky dark parts and lighthearted belly laugh moments, I think it's a good glread for everyone all around。 Plus the two characterized rat-monsters are very charming。 。。。more

Just the right amount of corny! Two rat creatures in particular had me in stitches。

This is a nice book I guess。Although,I am waiting for Fone and Phone to be in a better relationship cause' phone isn't lying about not knowing why the creatures are following them but since Phone lied so much Fone doesn't trust him and I want them them to make it clear that he isn't lying。 This is a nice book I guess。Although,I am waiting for Fone and Phone to be in a better relationship cause' phone isn't lying about not knowing why the creatures are following them but since Phone lied so much Fone doesn't trust him and I want them them to make it clear that he isn't lying。 。。。more

Read with my 5yo for bedtime。 He's into it。 I'm into it。 I know there's a lot that he misses out on, but I'm collecting these volumes now and I'll look forward to him rereading them on his own in a few years。 Read with my 5yo for bedtime。 He's into it。 I'm into it。 I know there's a lot that he misses out on, but I'm collecting these volumes now and I'll look forward to him rereading them on his own in a few years。 。。。more

The author knows what he’s doing using the visuals and even the sounds to move the story along。 I personally wanted more seriousness, less jokes。

This book has a good plotline, and, quite frankly, is hilarious and fun to read!

Dear Jeff,Thanks to COVID, people my age, whom I spoke to the previous morning, are hospitalized overnight, and gone by next day morning。 Some are on ventilator for the last one month, quite hopelessly holding on to a little life。 You don't know how much this book has helped me maintain my sanity in this insane world。 I owe you big time。 Dear Jeff,Thanks to COVID, people my age, whom I spoke to the previous morning, are hospitalized overnight, and gone by next day morning。 Some are on ventilator for the last one month, quite hopelessly holding on to a little life。 You don't know how much this book has helped me maintain my sanity in this insane world。 I owe you big time。 。。。more
